A local TD says the reopening of Castlerea Fire Station is a matter of life and death and money can't be an issue. It comes after Roscommon councillors called for a review of the county's fire services earlier this week. The issue was raised again by Cathaoirleach Paschal Fitzmaurice at this month's meeting of the local authority.
Roscommon County Council says it would cost too much to reopen the west Roscommon station, which has been closed since 2017. Sinn Féin's Claire Kerrane says councillors must put further pressure on the council's executive:
