A local TD has hit back at suggestions that a planned psychiatric unit be developed in Ballinasloe rather than Roscommon. Fianna Fáil's Martin Daly was responding to comments made by Tuam councillor Donagh Killilea recently. In a written question to the HSE West Regional Health Forum, Cllr Killilea suggested the 40-bed unit would be more suitably located at Portiuncula University Hospital. He cited the 24/7 Accident and Emergency Department and the location of the hospital on the M6 as reasons for moving the project. However, Martin Daly, a Ballygar-based GP, says Roscommon University Hospital is the right location:
