Progress has been made on the development of a new psychiatric unit at Roscommon University Hospital.
Sinn Féin TD Claire Kerrane says the HSE confirmed today that the project plan has been submitted for approval.
Once approved it will then return to HSE West for design stage.
The existing 22-bed unit in Roscommon Hospital had been slammed by the Mental Health Commission, who believe the premises doesn't meet residents' needs.
