A Longford-Westmeath TD says the First Home Scheme must be expanded to include second-hand homes.
Fine Gael's Micheál Carrigy, Chair of the Oireachtas Housing Committee, says first-time buyers should have equal access to the scheme.
He says this should apply whether they’re purchasing a new build or an older property.
The scheme currently applies only to new homes and self-builds.
Deputy Carrigy welcomed this week’s two-year extension of the scheme and €30 million in additional funding but said more must be done to broaden eligibility.
