The regional group of TD's are bringing forward a motion in the Dáil tomorrow, which is aimed at replacing the current means testing of family carers. Roscommon-Galway TD Denis Naughten is a member of the group and says the contribution of over 500,000 family carers in Ireland needs to be recognised.
Speaking to the Joe Finnegan show, Deputy Naughten said they want to abolish the means test element of the carers allowance. The Independent TD also said he hopes to have unanimous support from fellow TD's in the Dáil tomorrow morning:
