A local Fianna Fáil TD says he's now backing Heather Humphreys for the Presidency.
Jim Gavin who was the Fianna Fáil candidate made the decision to withdraw from the competition last night after it emerged he owes a former tenant over three thousand euro.
In a statement, Gavin said he "made a mistake" and is now "taking steps to address the matter".
It means the presidential election will be a two horse race between Fine Gael's Heather Humphreys and independent Catherine Connolly.
