A local Senator has been appointed to The Labour Party's front bench team.
Sligo-Leitrim Senator Nessa Cosgrove has been given responsibility for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht as well as for Worker's Rights.
Senator Cosgrove, who was elected to the Seanad only a week ago, says the West, Northwest, Border and Midlands have been neglected during decades of Fianna Fail-Fine Gael governments.

She says she will work with communities and opposition parties to find real solutions.
