Local politicians are promising to try to deliver a top-class athletics track for Longford - after a local man starred internationally last week. Ardagh's Cian McPhillips finished fourth in the 800 metres at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on Saturday.
He was racing on a standard 400-metre running track - but there's no such facility in his home county. Local Fianna Fáil councillor Uruemu Adejinmi says she wants one for Longford:
