A local nursing home has received planning permission to progress a significant extension to their Athlone facility.
Tearmainn Bhride Nursing Home in Brideswell, Athlone have gotten the greenlight to construct a 44 bedroom extension including two dining rooms and an activity room.
Plans for the project also include a staff area, kitchen & utility room, toilets and ancillary rooms for the care of residents along with additional car parking and a new waste water treatment plant.
In granting permission, Roscommon County Planners put forward 16 conditions.
They include a development contribution in the sum of almost €50,000 and a rule that working hours on site shall be strictly limited to 8.00am to 6.00pm on weekdays and 8.00am to 2pm on Saturday.
The home is currently registered to accommodate 29 residents and with the care team providing care from low to maximum dependency.
