A Local TD has taken aim at the opposition in the Dáil over calls for a new watchdog on government spending. Independent Ireland wants a new Department of Efficiency and Reform to carry out unannounced inspections of State bodies and NGOs.
The suggestion has been rejected by OPW Minister and Longford-Westmeath TD Kevin 'Boxer' Moran. He's accusing the party of finger-pointing, instead of trying to achieve real change:
