Local MEP refutes claims he endangered Mica fact finding mission

MEPs from Spain, Latvia and Estonia visited the country earlier this week to speak to home and business owners affected by the major issues with concrete blocks.

A Local Fine Gael MEP has refuted claims he endangered an EU fact finding mission into the Mica crisis in the North West. MEPs from Spain, Latvia and Estonia visited the country earlier this week to speak to home and business owners affected by the major issues with concrete blocks. The visit was spearheaded by Midlands Northwest MEP Luke 'Ming' Flanagan and saw MEPs Chris McManus from Sinn Fein and Fine Gael's Maria Walsh and Colm Markey.

Following the visit, MEP Flanagan accused Colm Markey of breaching Parliamentary Protocol by speaking to media after what he claims was a directive from the mission lead not to do so. Speaking to Let's Talk today, the Fine Gael MEP refuted the accusations and called for the issue not to be used as a political football:
