A local MEP is calling for a mediator to be appointed to end the dispute over Strokestown's public realm enhancement. A middle-man brokered a deal between the council and protestors in Ballaghaderreen - with 15 car-parking spaces being kept at The Square.

There's a similar 8-million-euro scheme planned for Strokestown, which also involves the loss of car-parking spaces. This has angered some local businesses - and Ciaran Mullooly, from Independent Ireland, says a mediator is needed:
