Two local hospitals have been categorised as having an elevated risk in relation to patient waiting lists.
According to data from the Irish Patients Association, Sligo University Hospital and Roscommon University Hospital were ranked in the top 10 for busiest waiting lists as of last month.
Just over 3,000 adult patients were on the hospital waiting list in Sligo last month with almost 600 on the list for over a year according to the report.
There were 747 patients on the waiting list at Roscommon University Hospital in December.
The two local hospitals were categorised as having an elevated risk.
Meanwhile, Portiuncula University Hospital in Ballinasloe was given a moderate risk rating in the report.
There were 567 patients on the waiting list as of December 2025 with over 50 on it for over a year.
While at the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar, there were 524 patients on the hospitals waiting list last month.
