Local group raises concerns over plans for refugee accommodation in Roscommon

It comes following Noel Whelan's application for an exemption from An Bord Pleanála to use Academy House for up to 17 refugees.

Concerns are being raised over the potential development of asylum seeker accommodation in Roscommon town. A group opposing an application to house those seeking International Protection on Goff Street says local services are already stretched. The Roscommon Says No To IPAS group highlighted current waiting lists for healthcare appointments among its list of concerns. It comes following Noel Whelan's application for an exemption from An Bord Pleanála to use Academy House for up to 17 refugees. Danika Donlon is a member of the anti-IPAS group, she says those living in Roscommon are already struggling to access basic services:
