A local Government TD has suggested pausing the intake of refugees to put an improved system in place. Fianna Fáil TD Joe Flaherty says the Government is losing the support of the people when it comes to accepting Ukrainian refugees.
He said the current response was reactionary and said there needed to be proper structures in place. Speaking to Shannonside News, Deputy Flaherty said the State's current approach to those arriving here wasn't working:
