Roscommon Gardaí are warning motorists over the dangers of defective tyres following a number of detections in recent days.
During a checkpoint conducted near Trien in Castlerea over the weekend, members of the local roads policing unit stopped a vehicle with worn tyres.
The driver received a Fixed Charge Notice and Penalty Points on their license.

According to Gardaí, defective tyres are the most likely car part that could contribute to the cause of a road traffic collision.
