A local Fine Gael TD has criticised the Justice Minister over his handling of fuel protest blockades.
There are ongoing disputes over who should have been consulted before Minister Jim O'Callaghan's unexpected announcement last Thursday.
A government source informed The Irish Times that the minister had discussed requesting the Army's assistance with the Taoiseach and Tánaiste, while another source claimed neither the Minister for Defence nor the Defence Forces had been consulted.
