Nine percent of Department of Agriculture payments went to local farmers last year.
New figures released by Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon show over 2 billion euro in direct and capital payments went to farmers in 2024.
Out of the 2 billion euro worth of payments, farmers in Longford, Roscommon and Leitrim saw only 198 million euro.
The average payment received by local farmers from the Department last year amounted to €15,800.
Roscommon saw the highest investment but lowest average payment, with 84 million euro paid through farming schemes with the average Roscommon farmer getting €15,000.
That's followed by Leitrim, where across the 12 months of 2024, 63.6 million euro of CAP payments were allocated to farmers in the North West.
The average payment received by a farmer in Leitrim was €17,000.
Longford farmers saw the lowest payments through agricultural schemes, with 41 million euro paid to local farmers, with the average payment worth €15,500.
Cork received the highest amount of Department funding at close to 240 million across 2024.
