A local farmer has welcomed the news that Ireland's nitrates derogation has been extended for another three years, but is cautious of new terms and conditions. John Sheridan from the Longford IFA told Shannonside FM the extended derogation is good news for Irish farmers, but there is still uncertainty for what will happen after the three years.
The EU nitrates committee will meet over the coming days and the new terms and conditions will be revealed on December 9th. Mr. Sheridan says farmers are still being left in the dark:
