Counties across the Shannonside region will be paired with member states during Ireland's Presidency of the European Union.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Helen McEntee announced the details, which aim to engage communities across the country on Ireland's European relationships.
Starting from July, counties Longford, Roscommon, and Leitrim will be paired with Hungary, Cyprus, Slovenia respectively.
In each county in the state, the ambassadors will participate in a range of public events to strengthen their ties with European countries.
