Local councillor says traffic light system at Rooskey bridge would not be safe

A survey of over 600 people, which was presented at the meeting, showed that 84% would be against a traffic light system being installed.

A Leitrim Councillor believes a traffic light system at Rooskey bridge is not a safe option. Fine Gael Cllr Maeve Reynolds was speaking following yesterdays Carrick on Shannon Municipal District Meeting. A survey of over 600 people, which was presented at the meeting, showed that 84% would be against a traffic light system being installed. Cllr Reynolds says the system which was trialed for two weeks in the village last year is not suitable:

Cllr Reynolds also says the local authority should now begin looking for funding for a cantilever bridge which is estimated to cost €2m:
