A local community activist has welcomed figures which show a recent drop in burglaries but warned those living in rural areas to remain vigilant. John Griffin, who was one of the organisers of anti-crime meetings in Roscommon and Galway also called for the reopening of local Garda stations. He was reacting to CSO figures which show burglaries in Roscommon-Longford fell by almost a third in three months.

There were 52 in the final quarter of last year - down from 76 in the previous quarter. John says the 'Enough is Enough' campaign made a difference in local communities:
