John Griffin, who was one of the organisers of anti-crime meetings in Roscommon and Galway also called for the reopening of local Garda stations.

The first council meeting since his sudden death earlier this month takes place this afternoon.

A series of burglaries in Elphin, Tulsk, Ballaghaderreen and Loughglynn are currently under investigation by An Garda Siochána.
