Local Cllr encouraging people to make submissions regarding proposed Greenway

The closing date for the Lough Ree Greenway project is 4 o'clock on Tuesday.

A local councillor is encouraging residents in south Roscommon to make submissions this week regarding a proposed Greenway. The closing date for the Lough Ree Greenway project is 4 o'clock on Tuesday. The study area for the greenway covers large areas of south Roscommon including Roscommon town, Knockcroghery, Lecarrow, Kiltoom and Hodson Bay. Three route corridor options were presented to members of the public at the Hodson Bay recently.

Some local landowners, however, say the greenway has the potential to reduce the value of their lands due to fragmentation or division. Cllr Laurence Fallon believes the route which runs close to the existing rail line is the most sensible option. He urged residents and landowners to make a submission prior to Tuesday's deadline:
