A Ballaghaderreen councillor is calling for litter fines to be increased to 500 euro, to further crack down on illegal dumping.
The on-the-spot fines are 150 euro at the moment, but the government intends increasing them to 250.
The Irish Independent is reporting Junior Minister Alan Dillon will announce the rise this week.
