LISTEN: Man who died in west Roscommon housefire described as 'loving partner'

The Frenchpark community was plunged into sadness when the father of four died following a sudden explosion at his house on June 18th.

The man who died in a housefire in west Roscommon last month has been described as 'generous and loving partner'
72-year-old Des Deegan was originally from Dublin but lived at The Oaks estate in Frenchpark for two years with his partner of 35 years, Alice Hetherton.
Ms Hetherton had been living in a nursing home in recent times but Des had campaigned tirelessly to bring her home.

The Frenchpark community was plunged into sadness when the father of four died following a sudden explosion at his house on June 18th.
Among the items brought forward as symbols of his life were a Liverpool scarf, a Dublin jersey and a betting slip to represent his love of sport.
Fr Mark Mohan said that when Des met Alice it was 'love at first sight':
