Former councillor Michael McGreal, from Ballinlough, Castleplunkett's Ruth Connolly-Conboy, Ballintubber's Maria McCahill and Roscommon town's Robbie McConn are in the hat.

Four candidates will battle for Senator Gareth Scahill's Roscommon council seat in two weeks' time.

Former councillor Michael McGreal, from Ballinlough, Castleplunkett's Ruth Connolly-Conboy, Ballintubber's Maria McCahill and Roscommon town's Robbie McConn are in the hat.

They will contest the selection convention in Tully's Hotel in Castlerea on April 14th.

The winner will replace Scahill, who quit the council last month after being chosen as a senator.

We've already interviewed three of the four candidates.

And today Eoghan Murphy has been speaking to the fourth one - Maria McCahill, who first told him why she's running to be a councillor.
