Over 200 people attended a public meeting in Ballinasloe tonight amid massive concern over the downgrading of maternity services in Portiuncula University Hospital in the town.
It's after the HSE and the Health Minister, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, confirmed high-risk mothers can no longer have their babies in the hospital - they'll instead have their care transferred to other maternity units.
TDs, councillors and MEPs were among those in attendance at tonight's meeting in Gullane's Hotel.
The meeting also heard powerful testimonies from mothers.
The meeting was chaired by Dr Kevin Connolly, a retired pediatrician from Portiuncula, while Dr Evelyn Parsons, an Independent councillor, also spoke in detail.
It was agreed a street protest will take place on Saturday, August 16th, in Ballinasloe, in the next part of the campaign.
MEP Ciaran Mullooly was at the meeting and spoke to our reporter, Eoghan Murphy, afterwards:
Local Independent Ireland councillor, Declan Geraghty, was also at the meeting, outlined his concerns to Eoghan afterwards:
