Eugene Murphy is pulling out of the race for Anthony Waldron's seat on Roscommon County Council.
It's after the Waldron family announced its backing Ballintober man Michael Holland Senior for the seat.
Mr Waldron died in February and his seat has been vacant since then.

After Murphy's withdrawal, the race is between Ballintober woman Gail Murray and Holland.
