The race to fill Senator Gareth Scahill's seat on Roscommon County Council is progressing.
The deadline for nominations is this Sunday - and the Fine Gael selection convention will take place at 7.30 pm on Thursday, April 14th in Tully's Hotel, Castlerea. Two candidates are nominated so far - unsuccessful local elections candidate Robbie McConn, and Ruth Connolly-Conboy, from Castleplunkett. Ruth has been speaking to Eoghan Murphy earlier today:
