Leitrim woman appointed chair of new Atlantic Technological University

Sligo IT, GMIT and Letterkenny IT will be included in the new university.

A Leitrim woman has been announced as the chair of the new Atlantic Technological University.

Maura McNally from Dromod in Leitrim has been appointed to the key role today.

The ATU will encompass Sligo IT, GMIT and Letterkenny IT, with Sligo now being designated a university town.

Higher Education Minister Simon Harris has signed the statutory instruments making it possible for the establishment of the new university's governing body.
