A Leitrim teenager has been given the go-ahead to receive life-changing surgery this weekend.
13-year-old Rachel Mallon from Bornacoola was diagnosed with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis earlier this year.
According to her father Brian, a new surgical procedure currently only available in the UK is the best chance for Rachel to be able to move her back after treatment.

Test results conducted by doctors in London yesterday show that Rachel has enough flexibility in her spine for the surgery to proceed.
The Bornacoola teenager is set to undergo the 7-hour operation on Saturday morning.
A Go Fund Me campaign launched by her parents has now closed after raising almost double the original target of €30,000.
