Leitrim recycling facilities being targeted by illegal dumpers

Leitrim County Council received almost 50 complaints of illegal dumping at recycling facilities in the space of three months.

According to freedom of information files, it got 49 reports relating to bring banks between January and March.

Residents claimed rubbish was dumped at facilities in Carrick-on-Shannon, Drumshanbo, Ballinamore, Carrigallen and other areas.

Councillor Finola Armstrong-McGuire is a volunteer with Carrick Tidy Towns - she is condemning the practice.
