A Leitrim Councillor is calling on the local authority to explore the possibility of acquiring derelict and closed up houses in local towns and villages. Fianna Fáil Cllr Sean McGowan is bringing forward a motion to next week's Leitrim County Council meeting.
He is also calling on the council to seek funding from the Government to restore these properties in the county. Cllr McGowan says housing remains a big problem in Leitrim:
