Leitrim County Council is set to open tenders for the provision of a half a million euro school safety programme in Mohill. The Safe Routes to School Programme is designed to improve safety at the school gate, improve access routes to school and increase cycling infrastructure for students. The works planned by Leitrim County Council will see upgrades to transport infrastructure at and around Mohill Community College and St Manchan’s National School.
The works are set to cost at least €435,000, with tenders open until the 16th of June. Principal of Mohill Community College and Local Councillor Cormac Flynn says he hopes the works will encourage more students to cycle to school:
