Leitrim confirmed as lowest performing county for e-waste recycling

The figures form part of Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment Ireland's annual report.

Counties in the Shannonside region recycled on average, 7.8kg of electronic and electrical waste per person last year.

Individuals each recycled only 4 kilograms of waste items, well below the nationally average of 9 kilograms.

Roscommon and Longford, by contrast exceeded the national average.

Longford people recycled 9.5 kilograms while Roscommon recorded a total of 10.1 kilograms.

The reports showed that close to 39,000 tonnes of e-waste were collected nationwide last year with 21.1 million e-waste items saved from landfill in 2025 - the most ever since WEEE began collecting e-waste 20 years ago.
