A Leitrim Care Home has received high praise from HIQA following an inspection earlier this year. Lough Erril Private Nursing Home is a purpose built facility located near Mohill caring for service users of varying dependency. There were 45 residents on site when HIQA inspectors attended the property in March. Lough Erril Nursing home recorded full compliance across the board following the inspection. The centre was found to be fully compliant in all 11 regulations including staff, fire precautions, healthcare and premises. Inspectors noted that on arriving at the care home, there was a calm, happy and relaxed atmosphere in the centre and the environment was warm, homely and comfortable. Residents said they enjoyed a good quality of life and paid tribute to the kindness of staff and management.
The inspector observed that residents were participating in social activities taking place during the day in the sitting room and in the sensory room, with service users who preferred quieter settings accommodated in a secondary sitting room. The centre was found to be exceptionally clean and staff were recorded practicing good hand hygiene throughout the visit. Residents also stated that they felt involved in the running of the care home and felt comfortable in raising issues with staff or management.
