The lack of running tracks in Roscommon, Leitrim and Longford was highlighted in the Seanad this week.
They are the only counties in Ireland that don't have a track for local athletes to train on.
However, there are plans in place to establish tracks in Carrick on Shannon and Roscommon Town in the coming years.
