Leitrim County's top Heritage Week award for 2025 has gone to the event "Revisiting the 1930 Sheebeg Excavation."
Organised by Dr. Niamh Daly and Professor Peter Halligan, the project brought over a hundred people together in Keshcarrigan.
It shared new findings showing the Sheebeg tomb bones date back around 5,600 years - even older than Stonehenge and Newgrange.
The event reconnected the local community with its ancient past through newly funded research.
Speaking to Shannonside FM News, Professor Halligan explained what made the project stand out.
