Just under €1 million was spent to bring 88 vacant social houses in the region back into use. The figures were recently published by the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne. The Department of Housing provided a breakdown of the number of vacant social homes that were brought back into active use since 2014, and how much money had been allocated for their regeneration under the Voids Programme.
In Co. Longford, 43 unoccupied social houses were redeveloped and brought back into use in 2024. A total of €473,000 had been earmarked to carry out the works. Meanwhile, that same year, in Co.
