A Longford TD has called on the Minister for Housing to make urgent changes to the Septic Tank Grant Scheme. Speaking in the Dáil recently, Deputy Joe Flaherty said just 19 grants have been paid out under the scheme so far in Longford this year.
The Fianna Fáil TD said a pre-requisite of the scheme is that households must be preselected as part of the national inspection area. He claimed, however, that just a handful of inspections had been carried out in the Longford area this year. Speaking to Shannonside News, he said the Housing Minister was aware of his dissatisfaction with the current scheme:
