A local senator is calling for garda management to apologise to a Longford inspector - accusing them on 'shamelessly failing' him.
35-year-old Edward 'Blondie' Stokes was jailed last week for a dog attack on Inspector Tom Quinn in Ferriskill, Granard, in 2018.
Judge Kenneth Connolly said the inspector was obliged to shoot the dog.
A video of the incident went viral online, which the judge described as 'self-serving' and distorted' on Stokes' part.
