Jim Callery (90) completes first leg of Strokestown to Dublin walk
Jim Callery will turn 91 in October

Mr Callery, who will turn 91 in October, is the founder of the National Famine Museum in Strokestown. 

Ninety-year-old Jim Callery, from Elphin, walked 20 kilometres of the National Famine Way today.

The Boyle Palestine Solidarity Group are trekking from Strokestown to Dublin over the next eight days.

President Michael D Higgins' wife, Sabina, walked the start of the journey with them today.

Last year Jim Callery walked the entire way to Dublin, to mark his 90th birthday.

And today, he completed the first leg, from Strokestown to Clondra, with the group.

Mr Callery, who will turn 91 in October, is the founder of the National Famine Museum in Strokestown.

The company he established, Westward Holdings, is the owner of Strokestown Park House.

The National Famine Way is 165km long and the Boyle group are walking it in solidarity with the people of Palestine this year.
