Irish Water and County Council called on to investigate Leitrim Village sewerage issues

The problem was highlighted at today's meeting of the Carrick on Shannon Municipal District by Councillor Paddy Farrell.

Irish Water and Leitrim County Council are being called on to investigate reports of bad odours emanating from the Leitrim Village sewerage plant.

Locals have highlighted the issue, claiming the smell is spreading into the village during certain weather conditions.

The problem was highlighted at today's meeting of the Carrick on Shannon Municipal District by Councillor Paddy Farrell.

The local authority has confirmed it will work with the utility provider to investigate the claims and will examine the sewerage plant in the village.

According to Councillor Farrell, local businesses are already facing enough challenges without adding another issue to them.
