Irish Rail and the emergency services have been praised for their quick response to a fire on a train in Roscommon.
Around 100 passengers were onboard the 12.45 Dublin to Westport service, when it stopped near Lecarrow yesterday.
Irish Rail said the fire was confined to one area in the undercarriage - no part of the passenger area of the train was affected.
As a precaution, bus transfers were arranged for the passengers affected.
One of those passengers was Senator Gareth Scahill, who praised those responding to the incident:
