Ireland's Nitrates Derogation secured until 2029, says Minister

Local MEP Ciaran Mullooly, however, says continued uncertainty is unfair on farmers.

Minister Martin Heydon's announced Ireland has secured the continued availability of the Nitrates Derogation. The Nitrates Committee of the European Commission met to extend the derogation, which expires this month, until the end of 2028 with some new conditions attached. Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon says an extension will be positive for farmers here:
