Independent Ireland says its four TDs will nominate Maria Steen to enter the Presidential election. It met today, and says its TDs were impressed by her honesty and candour.
Minister of State Marian Harkin also announced she would be nominating Ms. Steen, however she will continue to vote for Heather Humphreys in the election. It's estimated the independent hopeful now has the backing of 17 members of the Oireachtas - she needs 20. Local Independent Ireland TD Michael Fitzmaurice explains why they're nominating Steen:
