Sligo University Hospital has reiterated its plea to people with flu-like symptoms not to visit the hospital. The facility previously made an appeal last week as flu cases continue to rise sharply in the community. Six flu outbreaks have now been confirmed on separate wards, an increase on five outlined last week. 23 patients with flu are being treated at Sligo University Hospital with a number of older people presenting to the emergency department with symptoms.
As an infection control measure, strict visiting restrictions remain in place. Visiting is limited to direct family only between 6 and 8pm and children should not visit adult wards. Wards with an active flu outbreak will allow visits on compassionate grounds only. If you symptoms such as aches, fever, sore throat or cough, you are asked to postpone your visit for at least 48 hours after your symptoms clear.
