HSE reimbursement cuts for cataract surgery patients 'shocking blow'

Over 4,000 patients over 70 who need cataract operations to correct sight will have to fork out more if they go over the border for treatment.

The HSE's decision to cut reimbursements for patients who travel to the North for cataract surgery from today, is being condemned. Cork South West TD Michael Collins is describing it as "shocking blow to people who are going blind in this country".

Over 4,000 patients over 70 who need cataract operations to correct sight will have to fork out more if they go over the border for treatment, according to the Herald. Deputy Collins says the slashed amount they're being reimbursed with is not right:
