The HSE is encouraging people to take precautions this winter to avoid putting undue strain on healthcare facilities.
Hospitals are reporting high numbers of patients presenting at Emergency Departments for care and treatment.
The HSE says there has been a sharp increase of people seeking care for viral winter illnesses.
There's also been an increase in the levels of flu and Covid-19 circulating in the community.
Consultant in Emergency Medicine Dr Carla Hopper says it's vital people know their options this winter.
